2014: The Year Vaporizers Went Mainstream

The "Tipping Point" for Vaporizers

Remember the very first time you were introduced to the notion of vaporizers?

Be it last week, a year ago, a decade or more, while for some the practice of using vaporizers may be old hat, the fact remains that for many others seeking out cleaner, alternative methods, the concept is still a relatively new one.

All of that is poised to change, however, and quickly...

Over the past year, countless high-profile news and pop culture outlets have been active in covering the shift away from more traditional methods and towards the practice of vaporization. That said, it certainly appears as though 2014 will be the year we'll someday look back on as the year "vaping" made the leap to the mainstream.

A bold statement?

We don't think so. In fact, if you're on the Vapeworld.com email list, you may have caught our recent newsletter regarding the watershed moment that was Oxford Dictionary's announcement that the 2014 "Word of the Year," was… yep, you guessed it – "Vape." If that's not substantial proof that the popularity of vaporizers has indeed broken through to the masses and is here to stay, then we don't know what is.

Wait, what's that you say? You're not on our email list, yet? Well, we suggest you skedaddle, quick-like, and sign up now – if you want to be first to hear about our flash sales, new products and accessory spotlights, as well as breaking industry news, developments and trends from throughout the world of vaporization.

And whether you've found this article as part of seeking out your first vaporizer for aromatic blends, liquids or solid concentrates, or perhaps you're looking to upgrade your current vaporizer, there's a great chance some of the past year's biggest industry news items pinged your radar. Maybe it was on late-night TV, a mention on a favorite podcast, or while making the rounds on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter – the fact remains that vaporizers were everywhere in 2014.

The Zeitgeist? No, the #Vapegeist

Speaking of our favorite dictionary, Oxford defines the word Zeitgeist (n) as: The defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history as shown by the ideas and beliefs of the time.

So what do The New York Times, Sarah Silverman, Tech Crunch, Snoop Dogg, Gizmodo and The Washington Post all have in common? They've all opined about, promoted or covered vaporizers, at length – and all in the past year. And, in doing so, these mentions showed up in news feeds everywhere. That's only a quick sampling; the list of media outlets covering the shift toward vaporizing goes on and on… Heck, we've even seen some grandmothers getting their vape on for the first time this year!

Indeed, folks, it seems the great #Vapegeist is upon us.

The question remains, then: Will you continue to use conventional tools? Or will you join the growing community of those who've challenged the status quo and made the move to vaporization?
